EVENT: Transgender Day Of Remembrance @Big Red Church

Join us! Trans-e-Motion is hosting the 11th annual Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR) on Sunday, November 20th. Doors open at 5pm; the event begins at 5:30pm and ends at 8pm. The 2016 TDOR will be held at the First Congregation Church of Fresno (Big Red Church) at 2131 N. Van Ness Blvd. Fresno, CA.

The focus of the event is a memorial honoring our transgender family who have been lost over the past year due to hate crimes or suicide. They will be honored through performance, poetry, spoken word, an art display, and inspirational speakers A memorial will be held to read the names of those we have lost over the last year.

It's important to increase our awareness about the level of violence the transgender community experiences and the shocking rate of more than 40% of all transgender individuals who have attempted suicide. There have been at least 20 reported murders of transgender people in 2016 thus far. Join us in honor of those whose lives were lost, so that those who are left behind can live their lives in dignity as their authentic selves. Come join our observance and celebration.
