Michael J. Doane, a PhD Candidate at the University of Nevada, Reno, is conducting a survey for gay and bisexual men and women for his dissertation on the experiences of sexual minorities. The survey intends to understand your experiences as a gay or bisexual man or woman, including your perceptions of discrimination and prejudice (if any) against you as a sexual minority as well as aspects of your social relationships, health, and happiness.

We aim to increase awareness of the experiences of sexual minorities, including both the advantages and disadvantages of living as homosexual or bisexual in the United States. We anticipate publishing resultant work in academic journals and other outlets (e.g., conferences, magazine articles, or online blogs).
Participation in this survey is voluntary. Your responses will be combined and reported with others people’s responses. You are not required to provide personally identifying information. However, you may provide your e-mail address to be entered into a random drawing for a chance to win a $20 e-gift card to popular stores (e.g., Target, Walmart, or Starbucks) or to donate winnings to the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), a civil rights organization seeking to bring equality for LGBT populations. You may also provide your e-mail to be considered for a chance to complete a follow-up survey and earn between $5 and $20.
Your honest and complete answers are crucial to making sure survey results represent the experiences of sexual minority men and women. This survey will take approximately 15-20 minutes to complete.
