Community Comes Together After Tragic Transgender Murder

There was a shocking and tragic murder of a transgender person in Fresno last night. The victim has been misgendered by local authorities and media. We are working with the local transgender community to correct that. A candlelight vigil was held tonight in Fresno at the location of the murder.

The vigil was organized by KarenAdell Scot and attended by a small group of concerned citizens.

A second vigil will be held at the Fresno LGBT Community Center next week. We anticipate it to be on Thursday, July 30th at 6pm.

We will alert everyone as soon as the final details are in place.

This tragedy is a critical reminder that even though civil rights are progressing at an ever more positive rate, that violence and bigotry against the LGBT community continues, and often increases. We must all be aware of this and stand together to fight this battle.
