#GCVLoves Day 11!

Day 11!

Welcoming Churches.

"Church" doesn't have to mean a place of bigotry and judgment. It can also mean a place of fellowship and community for the LGBT population.

Fresno has some great welcoming churches... here's a few...

The Unitarian Universallist Church of Fresno

Wesley United Methodist Church

The Big Red Church aka First Congregational Church

And here's a few more!

Holy Family is committed to strengthening our faith through worship, developing our community of faith, and taking our faith to others. 1135 E. Alluvial, Fresno, 93720

We affirm our belief that all people are sacred creations of a loving God. We celebrate the talents and perspectives that all people bring to our faith community. In this spirit, our family of faith is open to people of every religious background, sexual orientation, family composition, physical and mental ability, race, age, gender, education, and economic status. We welcome all people to participate fully in our church’s life and ministry. Particularly standing with those who suffer discrimination, isolation and alienation, we affirm our commitment to work for justice, healing, and wholeness of life for all people.

THE BIG RED CHURCH – First Congregational Church of Fresno, United Church of Christ, is an Open and Affirming congregation, with strong ecumenical and interfaith ties, through whom God Is Still Speaking today. No matter who you are, or where you are in life’s journey, you are welcome here. Find your church. Find yourself. Find your community. We are the Big Red Church.  We’ve been in ministry in Fresno since 1883, but we believe God is still singing, and we are all part of the song! 2131 N. Van Ness Blvd., Fresno, 93704 559-227-8489

Welcome to NEW THOUGHT COMMUNITY. We are an interfaith Community that is open and inclusive. It is our commitment to create a safe and sacred place where people from all walks of life can discover their path, purpose and spiritual nature in order to live cooperatively, grow personally, and enrich the world as a spiritual community. We do this by teaching practical tools for living. These tools grow out of Universal Principles that life is good, that there is only one God common to all people, and that Love is the only Power.” Phone: 559-454-1005 (call anytime)-corner of Winery & Clinton by the Discovery Center

Temple Beth Israel is a part of Fresno’s history. Almost a century ago about 40 families met near the rear of a furniture store to study and celebrate their 4000 year-old religion. A humble beginning, but nonetheless, it led to the incorporation of the first Jewish congregation in the San Joaquin Valley in 1919.

The process of being a welcoming community that offers a new, free breath of spiritual life to people has been an ongoing learning experience for us. We are not done with this learning. The beauty of our new sanctuary and our loyalty to our faith and to one another combine to make to make the Unitarian Universalist Church of Fresno a living, powerful congregation that will continue its long history of service to the Fresno area, to humankind and to the world.
Reverend Bryan D. Jessup 2672 E Alluvial Ave., Clovis, 93611  559-322-6146 Sunday 10:30 AM

Unity is a positive, practical, progressive approach to Christianity based on the teachings of Jesus and the power of prayer. Unity honors the universal truths in all religions and respects each individual’s right to choose a spiritual path. 315 W. Shields Ave , Fresno, CA (map)

We are a community of people from many different walks of life, who believe that God has drawn us together to be the visible sign of God’s wildly inclusive love. We believe that God asks us to boldly share God’s love with all people as we seek to follow the path of Jesus. We don’t have all the answers but we ask a lot of questions, we worship, we laugh, we cry, we pray and we serve. We welcome you to join us on the journey of growing in Christ as we seek to be bold witnesses of God’s love!  1343 E. Barstow, Fresno, 93710 559-224-1947
