New York Transgender Protections
New York Governor Calls for Transgender Protections in State Civil Rights Law
Yesterday, in his State of the State address, New York Governor Andrew M. Cuomo called for an amendment to New York’s civil rights law to protect transgender New Yorkers from discrimination in employment, housing and public accommodations. HRC praised Governor Cuomo’s call to action and called on the New York State Senate to finally pass the state’s Gender Expression Non-Discrimination Act (GENDA) and explicitly protect transgender New York residents and visitors from discrimination at the state level.
