All The Dirt on Fresno Pride

The 24th Annual Fresno Pride Parade & Festival takes place on Sat, June 7th in the Tower District. The theme for this year is "Live & Love Proudly".
The parade starts at 10am at Olive and Palm and proceeds east to Olive and Fulton. The parade is FREE to everyone, however Olive avenue will be closed at 9am so you'll have to park outside of that area and walk in. People will line the entire parade route. The announcers for the parade will be stationed in front of Irene's Cafe, so if you want to hear about all the parade entries, you'll need to be near that area in the route. There will be approximately 50 entries in the parade this year. If you have not already secured your place and paid the entry fee you can do so up until and on the day of the event. Visit www.fresnorainbowpride.com or call 559-486-3464 for more information. On the day of the event only cash will be accepted as payment. All parade entries must report to the corner of Palm and Olive at least an hour prior to the start of the parade to register and get their place in line. Awards for parade entries include Largest Contingent, Most Festive, Best Float and CEO Award.

Immediately following the Pride Parade is the Pride Festival, a street festival at Fulton and Alhambra. You enter the festival off of Olive Avenue and the entry fee remains at a low $5.
The Pride Festival runs from 11am - 3pm.
Gay Central Valley will have an entry in the parade as well as booths at the Festival. For the parade this year, our theme is "Riot At Pride". We will be paying tribute to the Stonewall Riots which happened 45 years ago this year in New York, setting off the modern gay rights movement. If you'd like to ride and march with us, we welcome everyone to do so. More information is available at the bottom of this page...
There will be a wide variety of vendors at the festival, everything from nonprofit organizations to retail vendors to food booths to activities. At the Fresno Pride Festival you'll have access to more organizations and other vendors that at any other LGBT event in the Central Valley.
Your entry to the festival also includes a wide variety of entertainment including the Unison Dance Tent with various local DJ’s and GoGo dancers. On the main entertainment stage you can see acts from Fresno and around the state. This year the main entertainment stage will have four local hosts…Leilani Price, Patricia DeLeon, Justin Cider and Victoria De La Manana. Live singers, band and drag performers make up the performances this year and include the Raging Grannies, Damon Pardo of Rocky Horror, the Tiny Kites Band and live band Santa Mira. Local drag performers include Charm Alina, Alec Alnight, Cookie Cutter, Justin Cider, Hazzard Strange, Leilani Price, Patricia DeLeon, Cara Coronado, Emma Berry, Giselle O’Ell, A Town,  and Andy Rogenous.
Wesley Methodist Church is running a carnival for the kids, with games and activities. There will be bounce houses as well as goodie bags this year to the first 75 kids. Goodie bags will have a variety of items, with juice boxes, water, snack and a toy. The SPCA and the Hope Animal Shelter will be on hand with animals for adoption.
Volunteers are needed for all aspects of the parade and festival. The main need this year is for safety monitors and festival attendants. Parade safety monitors stand at designated places on the parade route to remind people to stay on the sidewalk and out of certain streets and areas. Volunteers can pair up with friends if they like. Festival attendants offer a wide variety of services including information and direction, set up and tear down, etc. All volunteers receive a free Pride tshirt to make them known to the crowd, as well as free festival admission, along with the pride of knowing you're helping your community.
To volunteer visit fresnorainbowpride.com or call 559-486-3464 or 559-266-LINK
Community Link operates the Pride Parade and Festival, and is an official 501c3 nonprofit organization. Given that, they are always in need of financial donations before, during and after the event. All fees charged for the parade and festival, as well as program advertising, go toward the cost of the event. You can also donate independently by mailing a donation to Community Link, PO Box 4959, Fresno, CA 93744.
On the day of the event funds are raised through the Beer & Wine Garden as well as the drink station run by Community Link inside the festival and a dessert booth run by the youth group. During the parade, the youth group will march the big rainbow flag down the street and you can toss in money to donate to the cause. Remember that you can also drop a donation off directly at any of the Community Link booths during the festival. This event needs community support to stay strong!

There are no more food vendor licenses available for the festival. Other Festival Applications and payments should be received before 11:59pm on June 1st, 2014. Some applications may be accepted after the deadline, but fees will need to be paid in cash and will depend on available space. Parade entries will be accepted up to the start of the parade (cash only on the day of the event).
