"Agents of SHIELD" Adds Lesbian Character

The Latino Review is reporting that the Whedon directed superhero show is set to add the comic book famous character Victoria Hand.

And... in a move that will be applauded by those of us rooting for LGBT actors, they seem to have chosen out and proud bisexual Saffron Burrows to play the out and proud Victoria.

Victoria Hand appears in multiple Marvel titles, from Invincible Iron Man to New Avengers.

*** Spoiler Warning***
She is a S.H.I.E.L.D. accountant who is in a relationship with an agent named Isabelle, but their romance ends in an emotional explosion when Victoria confronts Nick Fury because she thinks his War on Terror policies aren’t aggressive enough. She gets herself shipped off to the pacific northwest where she becomes one of Norman Osborn’s most trusted advisers when H.A.M.M.E.R. takes over S.H.I.E.L.D. and installs “dark” versions of all the Avengers.
*** end Spoiler alert***

Right now she is slated for one episode but that could always change.

And let's not forget that since the "Agents" universe is the same as the franchise of "Thor" "Ironman " "captail America" etc...there is a chance of an epic battle featuring Ultimately, Hand comes into direct conflict with Pepper Potts, Maria Hill, or Black Widow. Burrows vs. Gwyneth Paltrow, Cobie Smulders, or Scarlett Johansson? SURE!

BuzzFeed has a great "What you need to know" breakdown if you want more lovely photos of the lovely Saffron.
