Fresno AIDS Walk 2012

Words & Photos by Leon Velasco

The morning air was sunny yet chilly. The Gay Central Valley / Fresno City College Club Diversity Team was there in good spirits and ready to go.

There was a huge group of people that were there registering even up to the last minute. Many had infants in strollers, children, and even pets brought out there master's for the walk. There were some walkers who even got dressed up like ballerinas, colorful wigs, a family of Unicorns and YES, there was 1 drag queen representing.

Many organizations of Community Resources were also there in attendance to help inform the public of their services and many freebies were given out. There was entertainment as well as face painting for the kids. It was a great feeling surrounding everyone and the volunteers were very helpful. The Ribbon Wall had many postings of messages from those infected or affected by HIV/Aids.

After the walk was complete there were snacks for everyone and entertainment afterwards. Everyone had a wonderful time and I hope to participate next year.
