LGBT Friendly Business Spotlight - IRENE'S CAFE

In the middle of all this Chick Fil A controversy, Gay Central Valley would like to start a new series where we showcase and highlight LGBT FRIENDLY BUSINESSES in Fresno and the Central Valley. We urge you to spend your money at these businesses, as they have demonstrated an unwavering support for the LGBT Community...

Irenes Cafe  is a local restaurant, located in the heart of the Tower District in Fresno, at the corner of Olive and Linden Avenues. The restaurant has supported the LGBT Community since its inception in 1991. Go to any Pride Parade  and you'll find Irene's full of patrons, as well as being the home base of the music and announcers of the Parade, Jeff Robinson and Peter Robertson. On any other day, you'll find the LGBT Community present at the historic restaurant and on the expansive, open patio out front.

Irene's menu is all American, including breakfast, lunch and dinner. They have great burgers, sandwiches, salads, pasta and a children's menu. My husband and I eat there all the time and have never had a disappointing meal. This restaurant is friendly, responsive and rates high for service and standards. It's great for early morning energy, lunch meetings and dinner get togethers. It provides a casual atmosphere where everyone can feel comfortable.

Visit Irene's Cafe on any day at any time and you're likely to run into someone you know.

Last year, when Gay Central Valley needed a location to solicit memberships for the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), Irene's stepped up and allowed us to man a table outside while paying for meals for all those who signed up for a membership. Irene's has also donated gift certificates many times for a variety of Gay Central Valley's fundraisers. They have always been supportive and a valued ally to the LGBT Community.

From their website...

Irene’s Cafe is the place to enjoy a casual and tropical dining experience. Irene's serves breakfast, lunch and dinner 7 days a week. In addition, she has great breakfast, lunch and dinner specials daily that have made it the area’s favorite eating, drinking, and meeting place in the Tower District since opening in 1991.

From 5 p.m. to 9.00 pm Sunday through Saturday you can enjoy dinner and a nice glass of wine or beer from our menu selection. Sit on the patio or inside in the sunny atmosphere of the tropics, with palm trees, flowers and birds. Our servers strive to make your dining experience relaxed and enjoyable.

Owner Irene Saul devotes her time to two favorite pleasures: people and fine food. Her restaurant is a labor of love and she takes pride in the fact that everything served is fresh.

A native of Fresno, Irene sees her customers as a reflection of the community --warm, caring and friendly. Whether it’s for breakfast, lunch or dinner, you'll find that everyone at Irene's trys to make everyone feel at home.

Gay Central Valley enthusiastically encourages you to spend your money at Irene's Cafe. Let's support the businesses that support us!
